Student Life

Student Life at the Perelman School of Medicine

In addition to academic life, an important aspect of the medical school experience is participation in campus and/or medically related organizations. There are numerous activities and opportunities available at Penn and PSOM that are equal opportunity and open to all students — from membership in the American Medical Association to participation in the annual PSOM production, "Spoof."

Perelman Houses

The Perelman School of Medicine houses were founded in 2013 to foster interaction between classes and to develop smaller communities within our school. The houses are designed to play a major role in peer mentoring, advising, and organizing school-wide social, academic, and community service events. There are four Advisory Deans per house and 2-3 Master Clinicans. House Council members are recruited and selected during the MS1 year by prior House Council members.

Ongoing house events include:

  • Peer-to-peer advising
  • Hospital tours
  • Master Clinician dinners
  • Study Skills sessions
  • Group outings
  • Orientation lunches
  • House Cup competition
